NOVEMBER 2015 SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first School Advisory Council Meeting of the year in October! We look
forward seeing you at our next meeting on Thursday November 12th at 7pm and appreciate all who plan to attend. As
always, newcomers and volunteers both are welcome and appreciated!
Our fall 2015 Chocolate fundraiser is now complete! Thank you to
each and every family who supported St. Herbert School in this effort. Every dollar raised pays for special activities like
Scientist in the School, dances, and trips such as our recent Thanksgiving mass at St. Joseph’s parish which was
celebrated by Father Joseph the day after Thanksgiving. This fundraiser uncovered some very talented future
salespeople…who sold a staggering number of chocolate bars. You should be so proud of your accomplishment, and you
have personally helped every student in our St. Herbert family. Thank you also to the generous contributions from those
who opted not to participate in the selling, but gave a donation to the school to help make a difference. We especially
thank Mrs. March, who worked behind the scenes counting the funds raised, sorting returned chocolates and keeping
track of every detail! We are so grateful to you for all your time and hard work! Thank you.
Our thanks continue as we appreciate our wonderful pizza volunteers who continue to make
Wednesday a big treat for everyone. We hope everyone is also enjoying our new pizza from Gino’s. If you have not preordered pizza yet, you may still submit a form and we will add you to our growing list of happy pizza customers!!
At the beginning of November, we have the Feast of All Saints. A very wonderful Saint to ask to pray for us
is St. Jude (whose feast is close to the Feast of All Saints)
Novena Prayer to St. Jude: St. Jude, Apostle and Martyr, faithful servant and cousin
of Jesus, you have been forgotten because of the similarity of your name with Judas the traitor. Your are
universally honoured by and invoked by the Church as the Patron of Hopeless cases and things despaired of.
Pray for me in my temporal and spiritual needs. I implore you make use of your privileged relationship with
Jesus and bring speedy help where help appears impossible. Come to my assistance in this great need that I
may receive consolation and help from heaven in all my necessities tribulation and sufferings, particularly
(here make your prayer) and that I may praise God eternally with you and all the elect. Amen. I promise
you, O Blessed St. Jude to be ever mindful of this great favour, I will never cease to honour you as my special
and powerful patron and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen. St. Jude pray for us,
and for all who honor you and invoke your aid. Amen
