What’s Happening in
1st and 2nd Grade
Our first graders have con nued their explora on of
rhythm and beat using a variety of classroom instruments.
They have also con nued to
work on their melodic exploraon using pitches Mi, So, and
La.
Our second graders have connued their work on the pitches Do, Re, Mi, So, and La using
3rd, 4th, and 5th
Grade Happenings
Our third graders have been
con nuing their explora on of
the treble clef and the recorder. They have been focusing
on melodies using B, A ,G, and
E.
Our fourth graders have been
exploring the instrument families of the orchestra as well as
discovering a few new
rhythms including ka- , -
a variety of games, songs and
classroom instruments. They
con nue their work with
rhythm as well including crea ng their own “Color
Rhythm” pa=erns.

also added a few new terms to
our vocabulary including os nato, fugue, and impressionism.
Our fi>h graders have finished
their explora on of the musical road map by learning to
follow their own part in a mul-staff score, and worked on
their best prac ce singing
technique. They also took a
short trip into the world of
jazz music while preparing for
their performance of “Jazz”.
