STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
In a speaking situation, the student will be able to assess the audience using appropriate communication theory, develop a topic that meets the needs of the audience and the speaker, organize and develop the presentation, perform the presentation to meet the needs of the environment and audience and evaluate the speaking performance.
For a persuasive speaking situation, the student will be able to complete all of the above outcomes and be able to: develop and defend a claim, research and organize supporting warrants for the claim, and identify the necessary evidence for the warrants that support the claim.
Given a small group situation, the student will be able to develop an agenda, organize the committee, call the committee, lead the committee through the agenda and manage the minutes of the committee meeting.
Students will memorize tenets of effective communication in the workplace, demonstrating understanding by applying principles to hypothetical scenarios. Students will research and evaluate current research to design a final project analyzing current communication issues in organizations.
