Madame Bovary
Directions: We are going to do this activity for the three novels we read for Part One of the IB
program: Madame Bovary, The Master and Margarita, and Season of Migration to the North.
For each novel, we will develop a list of BIG IDEAS for each novel. Each student is then
responsible for finding one passage for each BIG IDEA. Additionally, students must find at least
one passage at the beginning, middle, and end of the work to ensure that we have a variety of
passages. These passages will be used for a variety of activities in the class: discussions, quizzes,
etc.
