Dear Families, I will be away from Seth Paine on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please do not email me with any immediate needs (like a special way of going home), because I will not have email access. Please contact the Seth Paine office if you need something, and one of our secretaries will let the substitute teacher know. We have been extremely busy with all our learning! We have learned about different genres of books - both fiction and nonfiction. We are excelling at retelling a story with the 6 elements of a story. We are learning about writing personal narratives and are starting to look for interesting language and ways to be better writers. The students love to write stories of their own and are very creative! In math, we are learning more about place value, writing numbers as words or as tens and ones. For example, seventy three is 7 tens and 3 ones. We are using number lines for addition and subtraction and will be going into this in more depth. Our SOCIAL STUDIES TEST is on Friday. Today your student brought home quite a bundle of social studies papers to help review before Friday’s test. Please go through all of it with your child – paying particular attention to the Review Page. All of our Monday papers are due on Tuesday, since there is no school on Monday. Please make sure your child his or her red home folder and is prepared on Tuesday morning. I try to emphasize to the students that coming to school is their job. It is important that they are ready for “work” each morning. Enjoy the weekend, Robin Kern
