Hello Families,
February 5, 2016
Below is important information regarding next week and the happenings
around Seth Paine.
**Happy 100th Day of School! The kids had fun trying to write 100 words
throughout the day, some of the students even finished! Your child brought
home their 100 words packet, it does not need to be returned to school.
**Thank you to all those who sent in containers of coins and cut out the
math fact octagon cards. We will be using them in class for many weeks to
come and your support from home is greatly appreciated!
**Our class had a blast at the Honk! Jr. Field Trip. We loved seeing the high
schoolers perform and even wrote about the play in class. Ask your first
grader about their favorite parts of the show!
**There will be no Words Their Way or Spelling Test because it is a short
week. If you see your child’s Words Their Way bucket at home, please send
it to school and the children will keep it in their desks for the week. There will
be a Valentine’s Day themed homework page sent home on Monday to be
completed by Thursday.
**Speaking of Valentine’s Day, our party is Thursday! If your child is handing
out Valentines, please be sure to send them to school with your child by
Thursday morning because we will be passing them out before lunch. If you
would like to send them earlier, they can stay at school until we hand them
out. Our class is so excited to see what our amazing volunteers have been
planning for the party! If you are able to come in for the party, please
contact Jodi Alt or David Finn as soon as possible, they are still looking for
volunteers!
**The Seth Paine Musical is just around the corner! The 4th and 5th graders
have been working for months to put on a wonderful production of Peter
Pan. They will perform at the High School Performing Arts Center on Feb.
19th and 20th. If you are interested in purchasing tickets for either show,
please see the attached flyer for more information.
**This week, Mrs. Grobarek talked with our class about “First Grade
Friendlies” or ways to be a good friend on the playground. Our class had a
great discussion about including each other at recess and solving problems
while being kind. Please read the attached handout from Mrs. Grobarek for
more information.
**Square 1 Art is a great art opportunity sponsored by our PTO and it begins
next week! There are many ways the kids can get involved and it’s
absolutely free to participate. Every person (young or old) who participates
will get 20 large stickers of their drawing absolutely free. Children can
participate after school, during recess, at an evening session, or do their
work at home and bring it to school. If you are interested in more
information, please see the attached flyer and permission slip.
