We remember them kindly,
We remember them tenderly
Their memories bring tears to our eyes.
They were brave, they're our heroes
They fought for their country.
And too many paid with their lives
They were seamen and airmen;
They were nurses and soldiers.
They fought so that we could be free.
Some died, some were wounded in horrible battle,
in the air, on the land, on the sea.
We remember to honour, we remember to cherish
those brave souls who fought overseas. Our respects and
our tributes we gladly pay to them; we are grateful that we
are still free.
We wear poppies proudly, our praise echoes loudly,
so world wars will not come again. To forget would be fateful, let us all be so grateful and remember these women and
men.

Modeling God’s Forgiveness and Love:
Our Community Rooted in Faith,
Responsibility and Learning
St. Anne’s Youth Faith Ambassadors held a flash mob dance
to celebrate the September virtue of Faith and introduce the
October virtue of empathy. As we think about empathy and
what it means to walk in other people’s shoes, one way to
support people is through acts of charity: ‘Christ has no
body on earth now but yours’ (Teresa of Avila). We are
putting faith into action through our Shoe Box Drive, which
provides school supplies and essential items to children in
Africa in support of Dr. Simone’s Canadian Food for Children. Understanding that charity starts at home, we are continuing our Breakfast Program and working hard to beautify
the school grounds. We believe every child should come to
class nourished and ready to learn, in an environment for
which they feel a sense of pride.

READING PROGRAM
Our Raz Kids Reading Program is
underway! This reading program is
being aimed at our primary students

school Literacy Program, with enriching reading activities
that can be done at home. All students have received an
instruction package, including their passwords, so that
they can participate in the reading program at home. We
STRONGLY encourage parents or Guardians to spend
some time with their child and the RAZ KIDS reading

Board Policy, all visitors to the school must report to the
office. We are asking for your cooperation to ensure that
there are no adults on school property other than those
adults who are staff at the school and can be identified by
wearing an orange safety vest.
Please make arrangements to meet your child at a
specific place off of school property at the end of the
day. Please note that pets including dogs, are not
permitted on school grounds. By continuing to work
together, we can continue to ensure a safe environment
for your child. Thank you for setting the example and
adhering to this important guideline.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!!!
NEW VOLUNTEER POLICY
In accordance with Board GAP policy 801, all parent volunteers, even those attending a one-day only school trip or
event, are required to have a Criminal Reference Check
(CRC). CRC applications are available in the main office.
LOST & FOUND ITEMS
Our Lost and Found box is almost
to the point of overflowing. Please
ensure that you label all of your
child’s clothing and discuss with him
or her the importance of looking in
the Lost and Found box for missing
articles.
Colder weather is here again!
Please ensure that your child
comes to school prepared to
participate in all activities, including outdoor recess. All
children should have hats,
scarves, gloves, warm coats
and boots, labeled with their
names.
If you feel your child is not well enough to go outside, it
would be best for you to keep your child home. Health
officials indicate that fresh air is beneficial, as long as students are dressed appropriately.
On extremely cold days, we limit the amount of time that
students spend out of doors. We obtain our weather information from the Environment Canada Weather Information Line and follow Board guidelines. With the exception of these occasions, it is our expectation that all children will go out for recesses and the lunch break.
