Report of the SGA Executive
Report of the Legislative Vice President, Brock McMorran
A few items for you today:
1.) Thanks to all those who helped with all of the recruitment events this past weekend!
Kevin let me know that ~25 students and their families talked SGA reps. at the
Destination-X event. In addition to this, Ryan and I hosted about 35 students on
Sunday morning at Preview Day.
2.) This week I will be LVP-Elect Sanfilippo to begin the transition process.
Congratulations!
3.) Be on the lookout for updates from Nia Williams later in the week. I will be meeting
with her to discuss end year goals, transitions, and the structure/vision of her position
in the coming year.
4.) Parking Committee will be meeting this week.
5.) Parking Technology Committee will also be meeting this week.
6.)
That’s it for me!
Report of the President, Ryan Alleman
To begin, Congratulations to Seth, Kristin and Matt on being elected the next SGA Executives.
Wanted to talk quickly about our third roll-over allocation; In terms of roll-over we have
roughly $25,000 remaining. Of that we would like to allocate $2,700 to a late night
programming trip to see the Hunger Games – the midnight premier is in March. The SAC trip
to NACA will run over budget due to higher than anticipated flight costs and food costs – the
total cost will be about $800 higher than anticipated. In total, this third roll-over allocation will
be roughly $3,500. (Straw Poll vote passed).
I wanted to also talk a bit about last week’s vote on the constitutional amendment by Senate.
It has become clear to me that there is strong misunderstanding across both boards and so in
an attempt to come to a greater level of consensus, I would like to hold a joint discussion
session of SAC & Senate which I will preside over. I’d like to hear your feedback on this
discussion.
A reminder, this weekend Sadie Olson – our JCIR – will be hosting her session on Ignatian
Leadership. No matter your faith background, I really encourage you to attend what I think
will be a great look at Leadership in a specially Xavier way.
Lastly, a reminder about the Father Graham dinners; Thursday is the first dinner. If you have
not yet signed up, this is the last chance!
Straw poll: in favor-all, not in favor-none
A friend of mine brought up the Car thing and she had nothing but good things to say about it.
I will be a frequent renter.
How much will it cost?
$7-8 depending on the vehicle you rent.
I would urge all those that did say yes, to send feedback to you.
Report of the Administrative Vice President, Lydia Gerlach
Please thank Morgan for the snack! Next week, Ana is bringing something.
Even though I said this would be a super long report, there have been some holdups in the
administration on some projects. So, my report will be a normal length!
Logo: We’re waiting up for mock-ups from our graphic designers-- hopefully we’ll be able to
show you guys something soon! For real. :)
LTSI: Luke, our LGBTQ Training and Support Intern, has been hard at work on creating a
Safezone program for Xavier. He will be giving you a more comprehensive update on this
program next week. Together, Luke and I have begun drafting the next LTSI’s roles and
responsibilities. If you’re interested providing input on the position, please let me know.
SRR: I am currently working on a more detailed job description of the Student Rights
Representative. Again, if you’re interested in giving feedback on this position, let me know.
VIII.
Report of the SAC Chair, Morgan Zuziak
I am meeting with Ian Heflin, a former S.A.C. member tomorrow morning because he is the
student brand manager for Chipotle. He was curious as to if S.A.C. had any events this
semester that would like to have a Chipotle donation at them. Please let me know at the end
of my report or sometime before tomorrow morning if you would like to have free Chipotle at
one of your events!
I have e-mailed all of the other students that you all recommended to apply to be a member
of S.A.C. and have heard back from a few so far which if great! So I just wanted to say thank
you for giving me all of those recommendations a few weeks ago!
Also, those of you who are thinking about running for the position of S.A.C. Chair – although
many of you may know this already, I’d like to inform you all that I am open to meeting with
each one of you individually to let you know a little bit more about the position and if you’d
like to bounce ideas off of me I am open to giving you constructive feedback.
Lastly, proposals that are due to me Sunday are – Dance the Day Away, the March LNS, Free
Ride to Final Fridays. There is no promo that needs to be up before next week.
IX.
Report of Advisor, Dustin Lewis
For your Senate Minute today, I want to start by letting you know that Senate Election
Information is now available at the front desk. Please note, if you are planning on running for
a Senate position, you must attend an informational session. These sessions will be hosted at
the end of next week and at the beginning of the week after spring break.
This week in Senate, there were three resolutions brought forward that I am sending around
now. The first is a resolution related to SGA’s support of Campus Solutions (student
business); the second resolution is in regard to accessibility on campus; the third resolution
relates to sexual assaults and please note – there are two versions of this resolution. Please
take a look at what is going around. I believe it is important for SAC to better understand
what the Senate is working on in their meetings.
I am also sending around information about Student Community Liaisons. This is Senator
Zach Aliberti’s new program and I encourage you to check out the information and apply if
you’re interested!
As a reminder, I will be out of the office from Friday until Wednesday attending NACA. I will
be accessible by email. I need to meet with Ariana, Whitney/Abby, and Matt regarding their
upcoming events BEFORE SPRING BREAK.
Finally, The Muskies nomination deadline is next Friday and there has not been a single
nomination yet from SAC. I really encourage you to check out this information and to
nominate one another and your programs for these honors. It would be a shame if SAC did
not participate whatsoever.
Are there students on search committee? None.
Did you know you did not have to live on campus to be Student Community Liaison?
X.
Report of the SGA Resource Assistant, Crystal Guffey

Proposals (must be emailed prior to meeting)
FAC, Jim Reitenbach
Not Emailed
(Initial Questions)
How did you come up with $2000?
They asked for $9000 last year, cut to $7000. Could have done the event if we hadn't cut their
budget. Gave the $2000 back. They can raise half.
I want more justification as to why it didn't pass through FAC. sounds like number is filling a
budget gap in allocation process. Sounds like you are just trying to fill what you took away in
the first place, not different event.
Saw this as unforeseen and therefore substantially different.
Defer to Elizabeth Bousson- is kind of filling a budgetary gap, but they agreed that they can
still put it on with $2000, so we agreed.
Happens to be a coincidence
Where did they change the location to?
After party is being changed, had complaints last year the place was unsafe.
(Debate and Discussion)
I'm willing to say my vote is in negative because I do not see this as a new event. If we are
holding ourselves accountable to our standards, this is not different. This event can still go on.
This is not different, just different food and location.
Agreed, make sure that it is the same situation for every club.
Also dissenting opinion: no way is this a new event. They told us that they left one location
because it was low attendance, now they want to go back there because do not want to pay
the catering at Cintas.
If we approve we should approve the full amount of Taranga. Should not fill a budget gap.
I do look at this substantially different because it is at a new location.
FAC overwhelmingly supported this, hope that you will support FAC by voting for this.
What is the justification in difference in price between what the event would have cost at same
location with new food vs. different location?
As someone who has attended gala and supports ASA. We should fund them; this is their huge
money maker for them.
Seems to me that they are trying to make this event bigger and open to more students.
Do agree this is a good idea. Talk about working with other people around campus, don't
understand if we have the money why we wouldn't give it to them.
It’s not about how awesome the event is, but is irrelevant does not follow rules of FAC.
When we did budget last year and they asked for certain events we did not dock event, but a
grand sweep. They only asked for $6000 total, they need $11,000. Filling gap.
$10-11,000 need for this year. When making those budgets they thought that was the amount
they needed, they could fundraise the rest.
I wouldn't say it's not against our constitution, but against a moral constitution. To me the
reason for giving them $2000 is because we didn't give them the $2000 we didn't give them
last year.
If we offer different food at late night snack, it's still the same event. Doesn’t seem like a
concrete reason.
Event is geared toward West African students, want to accommodate for East African students.
Safety thing also unforeseen.
Is there a reason why they couldn't just change the menu around with the same budget?
Seems like there is a better way to accommodate besides just asking us for money.
Don’t like telling students/groups no. SAC already has a bad rep.
How many people go? 125+ trying for 170 this year.
Whoa, my vote just changed.
Information been provided about the difference between food and reception hall? What is the
break down?
Do not have that information. Cannot control what they put it toward.
How much are the tickets?
$15 per ticket.
Are your fears that they would be spending the money in the right way? Are you saying the
event doesn't need this much money?
No.

(Debate and Discussion)
Good promo idea.
At last MAD hotdog stand did not go well. Takes 10mins to cook hotdog, students ended up
leaving and we had to throw away a lot of them.
I would encourage for next year to think outside the box for different foods for next year.
Company provides dealers for all the tables. We do not have to do any games.
Will you be able to win chips and turn them in for a prize?
We are doing a small version of that.

Blast from the Past
A Night for Love: 70 people showed up, good turnout.
Xavier Showcase: 180 people, good support, Ryan and Katie helped out a lot. Performances
awesome. Recommend this to the board maybe make a tradition.
I had to drag some friends to this event who would not normally go and they had a really
great time.
Even some professors showed up had a good time.
Would also like to see this become a tradition.

think it is sad that we aren't attending this. if you don't have something during those times, i
don't know why you aren't going.
We passed this event, if we thought students wouldn't not buy tickets should have turned it
down.
I want to force anyone to go to a play if that is not their thing.

Hey SAC! Late Night had a great time at showcase this weekend and going to Yagoot. Yet, we
have also been hard at work. Late Night Movie is this weekend. Please tell all your friends
about it. Also, please talk up Arvin Mitchell and make sure to tell people to stop by GSC on
Monday and Tuesday to pick up a pair of shutter shades. Thank you for passing Late Night
Movie and MAD today. Look for a proposal for March Late Night Snack. Also, now that Hunger
Games money has been approved from the Rollover fund, we will move forward with this
event. Make sure to get the word out before people start buying tickets since tickets were
made available for public sale yesterday. This event will be free. Have a great end of the week
and enjoy your weekend!
Do you know what size theatre you are trying to do? 194.

Hi SAC! Ariana's spring break event is next Wednesday here in GSC from 6-9. We don't need
too many volunteers, but we would love as many SAC members to attend as possible. You can
get snow cones, an air brush t-shirt, a caricature, and make some pretty cool visors for your
spring break adventures. Hope to see you all there! Unfortunately the lecture we were hoping
for is no longer possible, so we will be moving forward with another option. More details on
that to come. Luck on the Levee tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, March 13th (right after
spring break) at 3:00pm, so be sure to mark that on your calendar if you're interested. We will
only be taking 120 students this year, and we're expecting them to go pretty quickly. Just a
reminder that tickets are $5.00 and include dinner and a movie. Special thanks to Annette for
getting the promo done for us. Just another reminder that we are still brainstorming boat
dance themes and would love suggestions. Thanks and I hope everyone has a great week!
Are you doing 2 tickets per all card for luck on the levee? don't know.
