ACTION ITEMS 1. Melissa Chin Parker was elected co-chair in absentia INFORMATION/DISCUSSION/PRESENTATIONS Terri Pyer 1. Update from state advisory committee Terri discussed the new funding formula for state EEO funds of multiple measures. She mentioned that in the past Title 5 has providing funding to districts based only on FTES, but starting this year, Districts also will be awarded funds based on whether they have met multiple methods of achieving EEO goals. Because we will meet those methods, we anticipate receiving an FTES-based sum of $5,000 and a multiple methods sum of $45,000. Next year the award will be based only on the new method. Terri suggested that we think of some activities for next year. It would be great to start a speaker series. 2. EEO plan-due June 2016/Office of IPE Terri Pyer Terri discussed the EEO plan with the committee. She mentioned that only 65% of colleges submitted one yet (originally due in 2013) and we were one of them. We are required to submit a plan to the Chancellor’s Office, which must go through the participatory governance process first. One resource, “The nation’s changing demographics-Hispanic trends” by Pew Research Center was shown to the committee and some discussion centered around this. 3. One possibility is a spring theatre event that Melissa is working on with a theater group from San Francisco. 4. She will also speak with Melissa on other things she is working on.
