Module list 2014-15
Important notes:



This information is for guidance only.
Not all of the modules listed are available to exchange students – this information can be found in the module
catalogue available at: https://intranet.swan.ac.uk/catalogue
Not all modules are available every year, and the availability of any module is not guaranteed.
Guidance notes for module selection:






Full year students can select up to 120 Swansea University credits (equivalent to 36 US credits)
Semester students can select up to 60 Swansea University credits (equivalent to 18 US credits)
Modules are either taught in Semester 1 (TB1), Semester 2 (TB 2) or throughout the whole academic year (TB1
& 2):
o Students spending only Semester 1 at Swansea should select modules taught and examined in Teaching
Block 1 (TB1) only
o Students spending only Semester 2 at Swansea should select modules taught and examined in Teaching
Block 2 (TB2) only
Students are encouraged to select Year 1 (HE level 4) or Year 2 (HE level 5) modules. Students with a sound
background in the subject area may be able to enrol on Year 3 (HE level 6) modules but there are no re-sit
opportunities for Year 3 modules.
When selecting modules students should pay careful attention to the method of assessment. Some modules
are assessed by essay, others are assessed by examination. Semester 1 (TB1) modules in Biosciences,
Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Business and Geography are all assessed by
examination in January and students are required to be present in Swansea for these.
A student’s module selection will only be confirmed when they enrol at Swansea University and have their
timetable.
