Guidance notes for module selection: Full year students can select up to 120 Swansea University credits (equivalent to 36 US credits) Semester students can select up to 60 Swansea University credits (equivalent to 18 US credits) Modules are either taught in Semester 1 (TB1), Semester 2 (TB 2) or throughout the whole academic year (TB1 & 2): o Students spending only Semester 1 at Swansea should select modules taught and examined in Teaching Block 1 (TB1) only o Students spending only Semester 2 at Swansea should select modules taught and examined in Teaching Block 2 (TB2) only Students are encouraged to select Year 1 (HE level 4) or Year 2 (HE level 5) modules. Students with a sound background in the subject area may be able to enrol on Year 3 (HE level 6) modules but there are no re-sit opportunities for Year 3 modules. When selecting modules students should pay careful attention to the method of assessment. Some modules are assessed by essay, others are assessed by examination. Semester 1 (TB1) modules in Biosciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Business and Geography are all assessed by examination in January and students are required to be present in Swansea for these. A student’s module selection will only be confirmed when they enrol at Swansea University and have their timetable.
