Physical Education Department Rules
(Aerobics)
Students dress out and participate in physical activity everyday.
1.
2. Students must wear fitness attire appropriate for exercise. Shorts, tennis
shoes, sweats, t-shirts are acceptable. Jeans, flip flops (sandals), &
boots are NOT acceptable. ½ credit if you fail to dress out but still
participate. Only allowed 3 per nine weeks. After 3 must take a
zero.
3. Only 3 no dress/ no participation days are allowed each
9 weeks. After 3 you will be written up for lack of cooperation
(detention). You are expected to participate daily.
4. Students taking a zero must sit in assigned spot by the teacher. Not
sitting in the right place will result in an unassigned area write up.
5. Stay in the gym area at all times. Do not leave the gym area with- out
permission, you must wear hall pass! 4th block students must wait in
the Dance Studio for the bell to ring.
6. Tardies will be given to those students entering the gym after the bell
rings or those taking too long to dress out.

Keep your lockers locked!
Stay out of the locker room
until doors are unlocked to get dressed. Going into the locker room
without permission will result in out of assigned area write up.
8. 20 points/day are the total possible points. Inappropriate behavior or
non-participation will result in loss of points.
9. Cell phones: Don’t make them an issue!!! Not to be seen
during our workout!!!

Sign your name on the clipboard only if you can agree to abide by
these rules and accept consequences when you don’t.

Course Resources: Locks will be provided. Students will need clothing
suitable for exercise (gym shorts or sweat pants, t-shirt, and tennis shoes)
everyday.
Course Objective and/or Description: Students will participate in fitness
activities everyday to improve their current fitness levels and to learn lifelong
fitness activities. Emphasis will be placed on good sportsmanship, cooperation
along with lifetime wellness.
*Standard 1. The physically literate individual demonstrates competency in a variety of
motor skills and movement patterns.
*Standard 2. The physically literate individual applies knowledge of concepts,
principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance.
*Standard 3. The physically literate individual demonstrates the knowledge and skills to
achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness.
*Standard 4. The physically literate individual exhibits responsible personal and social
behavior that respects self and others.
*Standard 5. The physically literate individual recognizes the value of physical activity
for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction.
Units of Study: Students will do fitness assessment, dance, Jazzercise, step,
toning, Yoga, weight lifting, circuit training, kickboxing, speed & agility training,
T25, Barre, and more. Students will also learn how to use various fitness Apps,
Pinterest workouts & Youtube to find workouts.
Grading Policy: Students are graded on 20 points per day for participation.
Not participating or dressing out will cause loss of points. Unexcused
absences equal a zero. You have 1 week to get unexcused changed
to excused absence.
Reading & Writing: Students will be required to do reading & writing assignments
related to lifetime fitness. There will be weekly a vocabulary word related to overall
heath and fitness. Those words will be used on the semester test at the end of the
year.
Semester Test: All students will take semester test.
Plagiarism / Academic Dishonesty Policy: Plagiarism and academic dishonesty are serious offenses. The academic work of a student
is expected to be his/her own effort. Students must give the author(s) credit for any source material used. To represent ideas or
interpretations taken from a source without giving credit is a flagrant act. To present a borrowed passage after having changed a few
words, even if the source is cited, is also plagiarism. Students who commit any act of academic dishonesty will receive a failing grade
in that portion of the course work. Acts of academic dishonesty will be reported to the administration.
Teacher reserves the right to alter this syllabus at any time during the course
Cardio Club: students will participate in a15 minute cardiovascular
activity (run or walk) upstairs or outside during each class. All students
must do a minimum of 15 cardio club days per nine weeks. This
will be a 100 point grade. Less than 15 will result in a zero. Incentives will
be given for those who reach specific milestones during the whole semester.
50 days= T-shirt
60 days= pizza party
Weekly Schedule:
Monday- Traditional Aerobics*
Tuesday- Monthly Body Assessment, Workout
Wednesday- Cardio Club then Weight Lifting
Thursday- Speed, Agility, Quickness, Sports, writing, or toning
Friday- Yoga or alternate fitness/sports activity
(sometimes the weekly schedule changes due to outside circumstances)

*Stay out of the locker room during class. If you know you are leaving
during class time get your stuff out of the locker room at the beginning of
class. Locker room will be locked!!!
Humanities/Dance: We will have a 1 week Dance unit sometime during the
semester. The whole week will be devoted to learning a little bit about dance
terminology but several dances. Students will be assessed over the dances they
learn.
