Red Cross Elementary School Primary School Policy
POLICY STATEMENT
The Primary School Program is that part of the elementary school program in which
children are enrolled from the time they begin school until they are ready to enter fourth
grade. Successful completion of the primary school shall be a prerequisite for a child’s
entrance into fourth grade. At Red Cross Elementary School, primary students will be
flexibly skill-grouped for Reading and Math instruction with the rest of the instructional
day consisting of multi-age/multi-ability groupings. Focus will be on developmentally
appropriate practices, continuous progress, authentic assessment, qualitative reporting
methods, professional teamwork, and positive parental involvement.
