The Our Lady of Mount Carmel One Through Prayer and Learning JUNE 2015 PRINCIPALS MESSAGE The summer has arrived, good weather and all. Second semester as always has been busy at Carmel. Our students have been honoured at the Carmies, Athletic Banquet, X-Awards and PIP BBQ. The teachers have worked to make sure they had a rewarding and full year!! Thank you to the St. John of the Cross priests and support staff for all they have done to enhance Our Lady Mount Carmel student’s faith education. Special thanks to trustee Esther O’Toole, for her presence at numerous school events and her genuine interest in all the activities students are involved in. Parent Council has worked tirelessly to contribute to the Catholic education of our students this year. They unselfishly provide assistance in our mission of providing quality Catholic education to all students at OLMC. Congratulations to all the clubs, teams and coaches/moderators. The soccer teams represented our school on the field with class. The senior boys’ soccer team (Antique Gold winners at OFSSA) had an impressive season as did the track and field athletes who travelled to many meets (including OFSSA). Congratulations to our lacrosse team for a successful season that lead them to OFSSA. Our girls Slo-Pitch won Silver in the ROPSSA finals, this was the first year for this team. This year two teachers have decided to retire after many years of teaching, coaching and mentoring. With regret we say farewell to Ms. McArthurScott and Mr. D. Rogers. They shall both be missed as they continue their journey and enjoy new endeavors. . During this semester we bid farewell to Ms. B. Penaloza and wish her the best in her new school. Vice Principal Kylie Richardson is moving to St. Martin High School in the fall. We shall miss her warm smile and many contributions to the school community. We wish her well in her future and welcome Theresa George to our community as vice principal. Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2015. As I reflect upon the contributions made by the students in this class, I am impressed by their abilities and insights into the world. A special thanks to all the teachers, custodians and staff involved in the many Grad Activities—the Prom, the Grad Mass, the Luncheon and the Ceremonies; your hard work make it a memorable occasion for the graduates and their families. Finally I wish each of you a wonderful and safe summer. School starts Tuesday September 8, 2015. God bless, P.
