How to Cite Information Using APA Format
(Based on the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association 6th ed.)
The list of references should appear as the last page of your research paper. Begin the list with the heading
References, centered. The entire list should be double-spaced within the lines of each citation and in
alphabetical order by the last name of each author. Here they are single spaced due to space constraints. If
the author’s name is unknown, alphabetize by the title, ignoring any initial A, An or The. For non-routine
sources (DVDs, films in databases, video webcast, brochures, etc.) list the type of source in square
brackets [ ] after the title.

Use initials instead of first names.
For two or more authors, use an ampersand (&) rather than the word "and.”
Separate the names with commas.
Include all authors up to and including seven authors for a single resource.
When authors number eight or more, include the first six authors' names, then insert three ellipsis
points( …) and add the last author's name.
Place the date of publication in parentheses immediately after the last author's name.
Capitalize only the first word of the title and subtitle (and all proper nouns).
