Annual Progress Report
Shared Priorities:
Creating Catholic Conditions for Well-Being, Learning and Leading
Outcomes:
1.0 By the end of 2016, there will be an increase in the proportion of students indicating
that they feel accepted by students in the school, as demonstrated by the CCCC School
Climate Survey results
Outcome Progress Comments
5/15/2015: Continue sharing of CCCC survey data with the Catholic School Council, outlining areas of need for our
students and their well-being. Continue to emphasize the school breakfast program to provide and promote
general wellness and nutrition for students. Continue to focus on anti-bullying intiatives and presentations for
students to help educate and inform with a focus on cybersafety as we are a Wifi/PED pilot school. Continue to use
student-created and led Virtue assemblies to promote positive student behaviors, attitudes and values and to
display greater student voice initiative. Continue to focus on a progressive discipline approach to behavior,
including CYW and Social Work support as required. Spirit Week activities, Parish and school planning, and
parental involvement have continued as community building activities. Continue to focus on Mental Health and
Physical Wellness initiatives through Speak Up and Innovation grants to help with the funding of Boys and Girls
Night evenings.
Shared Priorities:
Building Collaborative Practices Through Inquiry
Outcomes:
2.0 By the end of 2016, there will be a movement towards developing a school culture
focused on a growth mindset to help support the Board Mathematics Strategic Plan.
Outcome Progress Comments
6/4/2015: Staff continue to build and refine the collaborative Inquiry process this year. With the support of the
Catholic School Learning team, the staff maintained a school-wide focus on mathematics. To support the Board
Mathematics Strategic Plan, professional development opportunities, including facilitated math network sessions,
were organized. A Numeracy Night was held to engage parents and guardians in the learning process of
mathematics. In addition, staff engaged in many activities during divisional and staff meetings to develop their
understanding of the power of a growth mindset. Within each classroom, through the use of media and grade
appropriate activities, students began to comprehend the power of a growth mindset that their talents and
abilities can be developed through effort, dedication and persistence. With the tablet and PED (Personal Electronic
Device) pilot projects, teachers are embracing technology in the classroom and moving towards a more digital
classroom setup to enhance student learning and engagement through a 21st Century learning environment.
Fostering growth mindset, especially in mathematic will be a continued focus.

of their personal goals and become more competent, successful, and contributing members of society (Creating
Pathways to Success).
Shared Priorities:
Knowing the Learner through Assessment
Outcomes:
4.0 By the end of 2016, there will be an increase in the proportion of students who display
an understanding of assessment as it relates to the categories of the achievement chart
Outcome Progress Comments
6/4/2015: Through the collaborative inquiry process, staff have helped students gain a more thorough
understanding of assessment as it pertains to mathematics. With a focus on the Achievement Chart and the
categories within it (Knowledge/Understanding, Thinking, Application and Communication), student skills in math
problem solving have improved, especially in communication. Data tracking of students through assessment and
evaluation continued with a focus on differentiated instruction. Use of bi-monthly divisional meetings in place of
monthly staff meeting has resulted in a more focused setting with staff sharing of best practices. Teachers are
becoming more comfortable and consistent when using success criteria and learning goals to assist learners with
their progress as evidenced in student work products and anchor charts.

Annual Progress Report
Shared Priorities:
Responding through Effective Instruction
Outcomes:
5.0 By the end of 2016, there will be an increase in the proportion of students improving
their EQAO achievement level between assessment years
Outcome Progress Comments
6/4/2015: Staff have been fully in-serviced on the 3-Part lesson format and regularly implemented it as a means of
increasing student participation and knowledge in all areas of curriculum. With support from the Catholic School
Learning Team and our Special Assignment Teacher, teachers regularly assessed progress of the school inquiry and
developed next steps accordingly. Through common planning time and facilitated sessions, opportunities to coplan and co-teach lessons and develop common assessments, rubrics and checklists were created. Several staff
members had opportunities to participate in Board and Family facilitated networking sessions. Student
participation in tutoring club for Grade 3 and 6 increased and the All-Star Reading Program was implemented to
further develop literacy skills in the primary grades. Currently we are working with new technology and on-line
environment in a tablet format through a Board pilot project and will be looking at ways to enhance student
learning and focus through the use of digital technology.
