Final Assessment
Performance Task
Your task: Construct a device that will act like a
timer.
Targeted Time: Your device should track time
between 1-2 minutes.
On Test Day: You will have three attempts to
demonstrate the accuracy of your timer.
Follow the steps below to help you in your creation of
your timer:
 Think about what kind of timer you will make
 Create a list and collect all the materials you will need
from home
 Bring your materials to class
 Build and test your timer in class
 Keep data about the variables you change in order to get
better results
 When you find a design that works you will draw a
diagram and write a brief explanation of how your device
works
 You timer will be shared with me and you will be given a
score based on a rubric
 Have fun! Remember to be creative and think about the
types of clocks we discussed in the unit Measuring Time.
