A New American Family, a love story
The former President of the University of Arizona is well known for his commitment to excellence in education, community and diversity. He has written a book
called, A New American Family, a love story, in which he details “nontraditional” family with his wife Pat as they adopted six children in the 1960’s all
of different ethnicities creating an interracial family. As a couple they have been
married for over fifty-five years and have endured many highs and lows over the
years, including being tested by racial prejudice.
