Accreditation Status
The UH College of Pharmacy aspires to foster a commitment to lifelong learning and an environment
where students develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills consistent with the high standards of their
profession and/or scientific field. Our college is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy
Education (ACPE). The University of Houston College of Pharmacy’s most recent accreditation was in
2011, earning an 6 year accreditation status by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, 20

Capstone Testing Results
The Pharmacy Curriculum Outcomes Assessment (PCOA) which is a standardized exam for pharmacy
curriculums produced and administered by the National Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) is utilized in the P1
and P2 years as a formative assessment. In the P3 year, the PCOA is a high stakes exam and the
students accomplish minimum competency in order to progress to their Advanced Pharmacy Practice
Experiences (APPEs).

Community Outreach
Over 1,000 Seasonal Flu Immunizations were administered in the 2014-2015 season, over 2,000 patient
education encounters and over 3,000 health screenings within the Greater Houston Area in collaboration
with retail community pharmacies, non-profit health systems, and follow academic institutions
Pharm.D. candidates Annilee Miller and Minoosh Sobhanian and Clinical Professor Kim K. Birtcher, M.S.,
Pharm.D., BCPS, CLS, CDE, created a patient fact sheet (available at www.learnyourlipids.com) for the
National Lipid Association’s triglyceride education campaign as part of National Cholesterol Education
Month in September 2014
