March18, 2016 UPCOMING EVENTS Monday, March 21st: Spring Break Begins **Note: The second grade classes are each in search of a classroom volunteer who has a top-loading washing machine and is willing to dye and “fringe” 20 shirts for our class. A sample can be provided. You may choose and purchase the brown dye for us or I can do this if you are unable to do so. DIVING INTO LEARNING In case we don’t say it enough, we appreciate our Tools for Success parents very much! Writing Workshop: This week we focused on common nouns, proper nouns, adverbs and contractions. TABLE TALK: Conversation starters for the dinner table. If it is 2:15, what time will it be in half an hour? I heard a leprechaun visited your room; please tell me all about this! What is your Native American name? How did you select this name? Show me 3 ways to make 75¢. Name 2 verbs and 2 adjectives. Math: We assessed our time and money unit and began Topic 9, Numbers to 1,000. Reading Workshop: We worked on making sense of the information we read about in our nonfiction books. Social Studies: We began our Native American unit by being introduced to the origins of Native Americans and their views on using and respecting the natural resources in their different regions. HAVE A WONDERFUL Spring Break! Wendy Barton
