Application Note
Cisco 3640 - PBX Interoperability: Ericsson MD-110 PBX with
Cisco CallManager using Analog FXS and FXO Interfaces as an
MGCP Gateway
Introduction
• This application note describes the interoperability of an Ericsson MD-110 PBX with Cisco CallM anager using Cisco 3640 analog FXS/FXO
interfaces as an MGCP gateway.
• The network topology diagram shows the end-to-end interoperability.
• Connectivity is achieved by connecting the analog FXO loop start voice port on the MGCP gateway to a loop start phone line (POTS) port
on Ericsson MD-110 PBX.

Limitations
• FXS ground-start signaling type is not supported in the Cisco CallM anager MGCP Gateway Configuration GUI.
• FXS loop-start signaling is not tested.
• Ground-start signaling type is not supported on the PBX POTS line.
• The FXO gateway voice port goes off-hook on the first ring of an incoming seizure before the targeted phone has answered. The PBX analog
extension does not support disconnect supervision, which causes trunk hang issues and long ring-no answer times. For more information
about disconnect supervision, refer to FXO Answer and Disconnect Supervision at the following URL:
