SAT English Prep - PSAT Practice MP 1 - HO #3 OVERVIEW Name: ___________________ ______ / 46 points On Wednesday, October 14, 2015, the PSAT/NMSQT Test will be given to all sophomore students and those juniors who sign-up for the test . I encourage all juniors to sign-up! In preparation for the exam, you will complete the PSAT/NMSQT practice questions as homework, (check out the Khan Academy videos when you finish), and you will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT practice exam. We will only be examing the Reading and Writing portions of the text, but I encourage you to also take advantage of the Math Practice questions and exam! The good news about the PSAT/NMSQT exam is that it has been rewritten according to the new parameters of the SAT Exam which will be administered for the first time in March 2016. We will be preparing for the PSAT/NMSQT exam in class, and at the same time preparing for the new SAT! Analysis of how you do on this practice test and more formal analysis of the PSAT/NMSQT exam will give you, your parents, and your teachers a good idea of how your are progressing on mastering the Pennsylvania Standards and Skills, which standards/skills need additional work and practice for mastery, and how you might score on the SAT exam in your junior year. Please follow the instructions below for completing the PSAT/NMSQT practice exam: 1. You will need to use a computer to complete both the READING & WRITING practice questsions. If you do not have access to a computer at home, I will give you a pass for the NPHS IMC. 2. It is recommended that you sign-up for an account on the SAT College Prep Website, but you do not have to sign-up to complete the practice questions. I will give you information on how to create an account. 3. To begin practicing, go to: https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/practice You can access this sheet from my teacher webpage and click directly on it or copy and paste the address. 4. Under "Give it a try and see for yourself", click on "Reading Sample Questions". 5. Read the directions, then click on "Go to first question". 6. Read the passage and then begin answering the questions. 7. There are 4 answer choices -- A, B, C, D -- click on the one that you think best answers the question. 8. Record your answer on the corresponding square on the answer sheet below. 9. Then click on "View the Correct Answer". 10. Record the PSAT correct answer on the corrresponding square of the answer sheet. 11. Repeat for all questions on the "Reading Sample Questions". 12. Then follow the same procedure for the "Writing Sample Questions". 13. Finally, reflect on your answers and the PSAT correct answers and what skill/standard to practice. Your final score will be based on completing each section: "My Answer", "PSAT Answer", & "Reflection".
