COMMA REVIEW
1. When Arden came home from school her sisters met her at the door and they led her
into the kitchen.
2. Mother had left them in charge of feeding the household and Arden her two sisters and
her four brothers were known to be good if not voracious eaters!
3. Working diligently in the kitchen the girls prepared a meal that would not soon be
forgotten.
4. The dinner that the girls served consisted of lentil soup baked ham and escalloped
potatoes a green salad fresh-shelled peas biscuits and an apple pie.
5. Arden’s eldest brother Andy who is very particular about food asked for a second
helping of ham and salad.
6. For weeks sadly the home’s occupants ate nothing but leftovers and the girls at least
those who had cooked the meal became very unpopular.
7. At one leftover meal Andy rose to his feet crossed his arms across his chest and
refused to eat anymore.
8. Arden leapt to her own defense and she said nastily “Do your own cooking next time.
Beggars especially those with big appetites can’t be choosers!”
9. After this the boys learned to keep their mouths shut unless they were eating.
10. The whole sordid episode made the girls hang up their aprons at least for a while.
