There are 476 seats in honors courses How do AP courses help me save money? A typical course (3 semester hours) at UGA is currently $850.00 in tuition alone. An AP exam costs $91.00 --- if the student scores a 3, 4, or 5, most colleges (depending upon the school) will award 3 semester hours of credit. Therefore, the parent saves $759.00 per course, not to mention books and fees. In addition, the AP credits enable students to enter college as a second semester freshman or as a first semester sophomore which saves a lot of money. It also enables students to actually graduate from college in four years, do multiple degrees in four years, or enables them to have credits available for study abroad programs.
