Agenda Items
Welding Rodeo Parking
Andy MacPherson, representing the Welding Rodeo planning committee, requested
permission to close parking lot 8 (P8) the evening of Wednesday, May 2, through Friday,
May 4, to set up and host the 2nd Annual Welding Rodeo. The Culinary Arts and Softball
Field parking lot will remain open and will be accessible by the road north of Viking
Residence Hall. Jeanie Hardin suggested that the Career and Technology Center be open
for guests to tour.
Action/Motion: The Council unanimously supported the motion by Jeanie Hardin,
second by Rick Lynn, to allow parking lot P8 to be closed as requested for the Welding
Rodeo set up and event. Dr. Scheibmeir praised the efforts of Janis Thompson and Greg
Beckley for their leadership in this event planning.
South Campus – Facility Special Request
Dr. Scheibmeir presented a request for use of the South Campus for a wedding reception,
along with a special request to permit serving beer, wine and champagne.
Action/Motion: Action was tabled to allow Dr. Scheibmeir time to explore the legal
liability as well as the conditions that would need to be in place.
Continuing Education for Employees
Gary Paikowski and CWL Director Jan Crumpton have drafted plans to provide regular
in-house training to college personnel for campus-used software and technology systems
such as Windows, the phone system, SPOL, copiers, etc. Jeanie Hardin suggested getting
input from departments on what training topics are needed. Jan’s expertise in this area
will create the model to be used, and members are encouraged to support the initiative by
having employees attend. It was suggested that training would be very helpful for new
employees as a part of the orientation process.
Action/Motion: No action necessary.
