CHECKOUT INSTRUCTIONS
Checkouts are 1 minute timed oral tests that are done only on
the test portion of the sheet for each level.
The “checker” says, “Get ready, go.” and starts stopwatch.
The checker does not interrupt the student being tested, but
makes a mark for each error. THE STUDENTS SAY ONLY
THE ANSWERS ON THE TIMED TEST CHECKOUTS. After
the 1 minute period the checker says, “Stop.”
The checker then counts the number of facts answered
correctly. The checker tells the student this number which is
then entered onto the Student Progress Chart.
If a student answered at least 28 of the facts correctly on
the timed test, he/she advances to the next level. Levels
are indicated by coloring in those levels that have been
successfully completed.
Students are given a note of recognition at the completion of
each level.
