2. Application
a. Items of equipment listed herein are author­
ized for the operation
of United States Security
Assistance Organizations,
Pacific. The mission of
this unit is to administer U.S. military assistance to
United States Security Assistance and residual as­
pects of the grant aid military assistance program
to foster host country
military competence
and
further U.S. national policies and interests.
b. Procurement,
issue, substitution,
and reten­
tion of items of equipment
authorized
herein will
be accomplished

not listed in this table but may be retained until
unserviceable.
e. When an LCC-A preferred item is authorized
in the JTA and a suitable substitute
is onhand,
such items normally
will be retained
until not
economically
repairable.
f. Items of equipment authorized
herein, except
commercial
nontype classified items, are the Iatest
adopted type articles. Priorities of issue of substitute items pending availability of later models, or
in lieu thereof until exhausted, are established and
authorized by current supply directives.
g. The listing of an item or set, kit, or outfit in
this table provides
authority
for acquisition
of
applicable
repair parts, accessories,
special tools,
and components
thereof which are shown in appli­
dated 18 July 1988, including sII changea.

with the assigned responsibilities
for maintenance

h. Issues made by a military department
against
authorizations
and allowances
contained
in this
JTA will be chargeable to the appropriate
military
functions appropriations.

Organizations,
Pacific
operating
funds.

in this JTA arc authorized
only to the extent that these same, or comparable,

k. Unless otherwise restricted by orders or regu­
lations, the allowances
listed herein may be de­
creased or deleted at the request and discretion of
the commander.
The use of authorizations
estab­
lished herein is a command
function;
the com­
mander is not required to request to the full extent
of authorization
allowances.
The retention of au­
thorized
items and the enforcement
of supply
economy aIso are command
functions to be exer­
