PRIVACY ACT STATEMENT—JUMPS

PRINCIPAL PURPOSE(S): to provide the essential documents
required for authenticating military pay entitlements and deductions
and to provide the basis for timely and accurate payments.
ROUTINE USES: Used to accurately and timely pay members of the
Air Force, provide members periodic, comprehensive statements of
their accounts, and to respond to inquiries concerning their accounts.
U. S. Air Force and DOD components such as HQ AFAFC, Major
Commands and Air Force installations and other DOD components
use to determine pay due military members, to collect overpayments
made to military members, to provide accruate accounting for each
covered entitlement of military pay and allowances. Other users
include the federal agencies such as IRS, Social Security Adminis~
tration, VA; and state and local governments for tax and welfare

purposes;members of Congress; insurance deposits and for
payments. This includes release of information to computer
service centers and other accounting services when such centers
and services act as authorized agents of financial organizations
specified by the member to receive monies due him. Records
may be disclosed to the American Red Cross, AF Aid Society,
and to law enforcement agencies including me Department of
Justice for investigations and possible criminal prosecution,
civil court action or regulatory process. Disclosures may also
be made pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act. SSAN
is used for positive identification.
DISCLOSURES VOLUNTARY: Non-disclosure may result in
delayed settlement of accounts or may prevent action requested by
the individual. Disclosure of SSAN is voluntary.
