JOB SUMMARY: Leads team in establishing the data warehouse, business intelligence and
reporting strategy; designing and implementing the EPCC’s data warehouse and data models;
and the development of reporting systems, standards and templates.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide vision and leadership for the planning, design, implementation
and maintenance of the EPCC’s data warehouse, online analytical
processing (OLAP) applications, extract, transform & load (ETL)
applications, ad-hoc, production reporting systems, and other
associated applications. Work with data users and providers to
understand reporting requirements, source data systems and data
quality issues.

3. Establish and lead the development of reporting standards and
methodologies. Responsible for data warehouse/business intelligence
projects and resolve project issues and escalate to Administrative
Application Manager as appropriate.

4. Assist the Administrative Application Manager in the training and
development of end-users and IT community; knowledgeable in the
use of data warehouse applications.

5. Identify and lead the documentation of system specific standards.

6. Develop and recommend annual budget for approval to the
Administrative Applications Manager.

7. Keep abreast of emerging data warehouse, reporting, and other
business intelligence tools and technologies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide work direction to staff assigned to functional
area.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technologies.
EXPERIENCE: Seven (7) years

¾ Experience and understanding of data warehouse, business intelligence and
reporting concepts, processes, and toolsets.
¾ Ability to translate information and reporting needs into technical solutions.
¾ Understanding of relational database principles, architectures, and SQL
programming.
¾ Ability to work independently and manage/develop/evaluate team members
and projects as required.
¾ Understanding of SAS, Oracle, and Microsoft AS/SQL database, data
warehouse and business intelligence toolsets.
¾ Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of
diverse student populations.
2. Equipment Used: Personal and mainframe computers, UNIX Dec Alpha Servers, NT
servers, printers and a variety of equipment associated with a general office
environment.
3. Software Used: Oracle development environment, SQL, SQLPlus, PLSQL, ProC++,
ProCobol, UNIX, Microsoft Office including Access, Excel and Word, Data warehouse
and business intelligence toolsets. Basic knowledge of Statistical Analysis System
(SAS).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle
materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to
long periods of standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Alternative or combined skills in understanding, negotiating, selecting, developing, and
motivating people are important to the highest degree due to constant interaction with
other people, at any level within the organization or the community, position’s

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with occasional
distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some
disagreeable elements.
