POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Coordinator, Special Events & Moving Non-Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified Staff F (Skilled Trades) JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the planning and coordination of set-ups of special events and the physical movement of District furniture and equipment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Plan and coordinate District-wide set-ups of furniture and equipment for special events, registration, graduation, career days, festivals and Board meetings. YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% 2. District coordination, control, transfer, safeguarding of physical movement of District furniture and equipment. 25% 3. Operate and maintain material handling equipment; clean and maintain assigned equipment and machinery to include transportation of subordinates, co-workers, materials and supplies. 10% 4. Define and develop work tasks and procedures to include time management, labor distribution allocation, safety, transportation, logistics, tracking, and leading workforce to meet deadlines and responsibilities in an efficient and effective manner. 15% 5. Assist in general maintenance inspections; report findings and perform maintenance repairs as needed. 10% 6. Coordinate and execute District furniture and equipment dismantling, assembly, repair, and distribution. 10% 7. Implement appropriate operating procedures; ensure that duties and responsibilities of the position and subordinates are executed in accordance with District policies and procedures and other appropriate laws and regulations. 5% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Manager, Maintenance SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides work direction to assigned staff. Effective: 9/1/03 Page 1 of 2 ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent. EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years experience. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to deal effectively with internal/external customers; ability to plan, organize tasks and procedures to include time management, logistics, labor allocation and safety transportation. 2. Equipment Used: Personal computer, fax, telephone, copier, ten key calculator, and other equipment associated with an office environment. Must be able to operate a forklift. 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and e-mail. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties performed causes fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion. Duties require continuous effort in working with moderate to heavy (10 to 50lbs and, on occasion, over 50 lbs) materials producing moderate body fatigue. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Alternative or combined skills in understanding, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed with minor exposure to various disagreeable elements. Work may involve exposure to dust, fumes, and/or smoke, some soiling of hands and clothes, or lack of uniformity in heating and cooling.
