POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Facilities Specialist Non-Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified E JOB SUMMARY: Provides advanced technical and administrative assistance in support of Physical Plant. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Prepare, assemble, review, and submit construction data, as directed, to develop and generate scheduled and ad hoc reports to include the annual report for the Coordinating Board; assists in preparing construction cost estimates; researches new construction methods, materials, costs and sources when requested. Uses a computer assisted drafting software programs to analyze and create drawings as needed. YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% 2. Generates, tracks, and forwards charges as needed for construction and/or equipment repair and design-work requests; responds to technical questions. Assists in developing furniture, requirements and layouts for new facilities and remodeled areas, as well as coordinate between future occupants and vendors. 25% 3. Maintains and coordinates distribution of construction drawings, as requested, for new construction or facilities renovation projects. Maintains and ensures availability of blueprints and construction drawings of all District facilities. 20% 4. Updates and maintains the facilities/space directory. Compiles and produces the District’s Space Directory. Coordinate the manufacture and installation of all signage. 15% 5. Equipment Used: Personal computer and related peripherals, fax machine, adding machine, engraver, specialized printers and blotters, and miscellaneous equipment associated with facilities and construction. 3. Software Used: A variety of computer aided drafting, graphic, spreadsheet, wordprocessing, database, e-mail, and presentation software. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed in a general office or comparable working area with occasional distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements. In addition, job may have minor exposure to various disagreeable elements. Work may involve exposure to dust, fumes, and/or smoke, some soiling of hands and clothes, or a lack of uniformity in heating and cooling.
