Software development efforts that produce new applications or result in
major new functionality. These would generally address a new area of the
business, incorporate new technologies, require very significant funding
support, or dramatically increase the scope of coverage of a business area
being automated. Outside contractor support may be required to complete
these types of projects.
Examples of new initiatives:
• eProcurement system
• Migrate accounts receivable application to the web
• Single payment plan
• Lumens integration
Continuous Improvement
Software development or operational efforts that are needed in order to:
1. Meet federal, state, or local legal or regulatory obligations.
2. Meet obligations implied by policy and procedure changes set forth by
MnSCU management.
3. Continue business operations that are dependent on external providers.
Examples:
• Annual Tax Reporting
• Common Term Start Dates
• SWIFT Interfaces
System Architecture
Software development efforts that are intended to improve/enhance the
overall functionality of the application suite and support the following
general ISRS objectives:
• Increase operating efficiency
• Improve student perception of business services
• Attract students
• Retain students
• Help students accomplish their educational goals
• Support the chancellor's strategic framework
Software development or operational efforts that are needed in order to
retain existing application functionality within the context of a changing
hardware and software environment.
Examples:
• Upgrade to DB manager (Oracle)
• Equipment Migration to Web
• Warehouse data purge and archive
Examples:
• Accrual-based accounting
• Student direct deposit- HigherOne integration
• Security-administration enhancements
• RCFN enhancements
