DELAWARE

In Brief

" Republicans held the state's governorship during most of the first half of the 1900's.

But since that time, the office has passed back and forth between Republicans and

Democrats. In presidential elections, the Republican and Democratic parties have both played an important role. Since 1852, Republican and Democratic presidential candidates have won Delaware's electoral votes about the same number of times.
