Contest Rules and Regulations
These Rules and Regulations apply to the prizes listed below, which will be awarded to
guests at SFU’s 2012 Open House.
The Prize:

One Term Undergraduate First-year Room in the Towers: Valued at $2,621.
The Rules:
1. No purchase is necessary. To enter the contest, an individual must simply complete and
submit an entry form before 4:30 pm at the Residence and Housing table in Convocation
Mall at SFU’s Burnaby Mountain campus during the “Discover SFU Open House” event on
May 26, 2012. One entry form will serve to enter for all prizes.
2. To claim this prize, the winner must meet all entrance requirements or course prerequisites.
The winner must be admitted to Simon Fraser University by June 2012 and attending classes
by September 2012. Normal admissions criteria apply and the winner is not guaranteed
admission into a program or registration in a course.
3. To claim this prize, the winner must have a completed Residence application on file by
9:00am on May 28, 2012. The winner must meet all eligibility requirements to live in the
Towers. The winner must not have lived in Residence at SFU prior to fall 2012.
4. The chances of winning are dependant upon the total number of eligible entries received.
5. A random selection for each prize will be made within one (1) week after the contest closing
date (May 26, 2012) from all eligible entries received. All decisions with respect to the
selection process are final.
6. Only one (1) of each prize will be awarded.
7. Before being declared the winner of any prize, the selected entrant must correctly answer a
time-limited, skill-testing, mathematical question posed during a pre-arranged telephone
interview or by mail. Selected entrant(s) will be contacted within two (2) weeks of the
contest closing date.
8. Before being declared a winner of any prize, selected entrant(s) will be required to sign a
copy of these rules and regulations as the declaration and release form to:
a. Confirm compliance with contest rules and acceptance of prizes as offered;
b. Acknowledge the non-responsibility of SFU and the prize suppliers and their agents
in respect to injuries, accident, loss or misfortune relating to the prize;
c. Acknowledge SFU’s and its agents’ right to publish and broadcast the winner’s
picture, name, address, voices, and statements without further compensation other
than the prize offered.
d. Where the winner is under 19 years of age, a parent or guardian will be required to
sign a copy of the rules.
9. All entries become the property of SFU; none will be returned.
10. Prizes must be accepted as offered and no substitutions are allowed. Prizes are not
transferable and are not convertible to cash. In the event that the recipient of a prize
withdraws from classes at SFU, no cash refund will be made.
11. SFU reserves the right to cancel this promotion at any time for any reason whatsoever.
12. If a selected entrant is unwilling or unable to comply with the contest rules, that entrant will
be disqualified and another entry will be drawn from the remaining eligible entries received.
13. By claiming any prize, selected entrants waive the right to claim any costs of winning that
prize. This includes, but is not limited to, all costs of verification and redemption or travel to
redeem any prize. Entrants bear in full any and all liability that might arise from redeeming
or seeking to redeem said prize.
14. This contest is subject to all Federal, Provincial and Municipal laws and tax regulations.
