District Rangers have responsibility and authority to: Responsibility/Authority 1. Establish range allotments. 2. Approve allotment management plans, including those where Wilderness or Wilderness study areas are involved, after Forest Supervisor review. 3. Approve applications for and issue term grazing permits. (FSM 2231.1). 4. Approve nonuse of term grazing permits for : a. Permittee convenience for up to 3 consecutive grazing seasons on a year-by-year basis. b. Resources and protection agreement for not longer than the remaining term of the term grazing permit after review by the Forest Supervisor. Non-use for resource protection shall not be used to delay reductions required due to lack of capacity (overstocking). c. The coduct of research or other fact finding for the length of the proposed activity after Forest Supervisor review. For not longer than the remaining term of the term grazing permit. d. Conservation reserve up to the length of the approved agreement for not longer than the remaining term of the term grazing permit. 5. Confirm waivers of term grazing permits. 6. Modify term grazing permits. (FSM 2231.6) 7. Cancel/suspend up to 100 percent of a term grazing, temporary grazing on livestock use permit for violation of terms and conditions. 8. Approve applications for and issue temporary grazing and livestock use permits. 9. Make seasonal extensions of term grazing, temporary grazing, and livestock use permits. (All extensions will be charge.)
