Proposal Summary
Explain the purpose for this proposal:
This course has been successfully taught as a Special Topics course on the Stark Campus for several semesters. The
purpose of this proposal is to convert this course to an official PEB course catalog offering. Learning Outcomes: The student
will learn the basic techniques involved in an indoor cycling program. This training program simulates and outdoor ride and
utilizes motivation and mental training techniques to build cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength and endurance.
Learning In Class Activities: Proper positioning and bike set up for a safe and efficient ride, Proper technique and pedal
stroke, Breathing and visualization, Increasing cardiovascular endurance and endurance by specific cycling drills, Methods of
exercise intensity and components of fitness. Learning Out of Class Activities: Outdoor Cycling, Other cardiovascular
activities to build cardiovascular endurance such as walking, jogging etc.
