Catalog Description (edited): Students learn how to produce their own video programs, beginning with the planning and
scripting process, developing camerawork and audio recording skills, and editing the final production. They also learn how to
obtain footage in the field and work with other participants. In addition, the use of video for instruction is explored, with an
emphasis upon how it can be effectively integrated into curricula and used to enhance lessons in dynamic ways.

Explain the purpose for this proposal:
This proposal adds a doctoral level course (ITEC 77413) to the already existing "slash" course ITEC 47413 + 57413 Digital
Video in Education. The slash course will become ITEC 47413 + 57413 + 77413. Course Learning Outcomes: Knowledge of
camerawork, lighting, audio and editing in video production. Knowledge of television concepts, planning, scripting, nonlinear editing, shooting and directing in video production. Knowledge of web movies, streaming video and DVD burning. InClass Activities: Discussions, tests and projects on digital video in education. Tutorials on various techniques used in video
production. Out-of-Class Activities: Readings to support class discussion. Assignments such as analyzing production
techniques, projects exploring different features of video cameras, editing short video clips, creating a music video, creating
a video book, creating a short professional video and or additional assignments from the instructor. Online: same as above.
