AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET ON Candidate and Job Specification – Scrum Master Tesco is the leading multichannel retailer in the UK, with more than 3,000 stores and successful online and digital businesses. As a result of this Tesco is producing large amounts of data. Clever analytics and data science is required to make sense of this data and to help Tesco make better decisions on top of these insights. You will be joining a highly analytical team that focuses on delivering data applications that help Tesco make better decision. The Commercial Science Team combines in depth analysis with practical recommendations to solve complex problems. We work closely with the commercial teams in General Merchandise (Toys, Hardware, Electrical, Home and Celebrations) to deliver these business changes. As the Scrum Master, you will ensure that the team’s development is on track across multiple projects. You will promote Agile development within the team and the wider organisation and help balance the requirements of the Product Owner with the development capability of the team. Working in an environment where the complexity and time requirement of tasks is often very uncertain, you will balance the needs of hitting development timelines with those of exploring new directions. You will help the development team work on the right tasks at the right time. Required skills and experiences: In depth knowledge of Scrum First class communication skills Ability to create and manage Agile project plans Ability to relate to both business and technical people Ability to workshop leadership and facilitation, including Agile retrospectives Expert at gathering and communicating Agile metrics Agile mentoring and coaching skills Good analytical skills in order to be able to understand the concept behind the more mathematical stories Appreciation and exposure to data science Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work around obstacles to get things done Strong leadership skills in taking people with you to achieve challenging goals Agile training certification: Certified ScrumMaster - desired Certified Scrum Professional – preferred Required Competencies: Takes ownership and responsibility for the team’s adoption and practice of Agile Has an eye for quality Is a self-starter Works well within a team Must be able to manage own time successfully and manage conflicting priorities Is good at stakeholder engagement A background or strong understanding of the retail sector and/ or ecommerce would be advantageous.
