 Theoretical and experimental study on laser surface hardening by repetitive laser pulses – Ashish Kumar Nath, Aniruddha Gupta, Frederick Benny (http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0257897211011558)  Temperature field of repetitive laser pulse irradiation and its effect on laser surface hardening – Aniruddha Gupta, Ashish Kumar Nath (http://www.scientific.net/AMM.110‐116.823)  Modeling of KKG steam generator using TRACE – PSI Technical report TM‐41‐10‐05 – A. Gupta (http://stars.web.psi.ch/publications/TM/?publications/TM") WORK EXPERIENCE/INTERNSHIPS
 Currently a PhD candidate at Warwick Manufacturing Group (Dec’11 – till date)  Cognizant Technology Solutions India Private Limited (Jun’10 – July’11)  Worked as a Business Associate. The job involved data analysis with simulations and the predictions of the market behavior based on the current happenings.  Paul Scherrer Institute, Switzerland (May’09 – Aug’09)  The project on the application of TRACE code on the modeling of a steam generator was completed. Used an early version of the model of steam generator, developed controls system for it and tested and studied the behavior of the power plant from the normal power to the very low power levels for various parameters. The corresponding report for the work was accepted for a publication.  ITC Filtrona, Bangalore (May’08 – Jun’08) – An Industrial Training of period 8 weeks. The Following projects were completed during the stay at ITC Filtrona ‐  Minimization of Filter rods wastage in the Filter Tray Packing Unit – The wastage was reduced by 90% and thus this was accepted and implemented in all the machines.  Design of a grinder profile for continuous grinding of the cutting knife for PM‐5 machines – The grinder surface for cutting was designed in MATLAB by tracing the actual path of the knife in the grinding system. This was accepted and the specimen was sent for manufacturing and trial implementation.  Design of a Ledger Eccentric Assembly for PM‐5 machines – The Ledger Eccentric assembly supports the motion of the cutting knife. Earlier system was very much time consuming when it was changed for various lengths of cutting. Now, in my designed system, there is no need for the change of the whole assembly. The eccentricity was introduced which covered all the dimensions and hence, time saving and increasing the production. This was also accepted and the specimen was sent for manufacturing and trial implementation.  Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Kanpur (May’07 – Jun ‘07)  An Industrial Training of period 6 weeks in manufacturing department. I had an exposure of various manufacturing processes involved in the manufacturing of different kinds of aero planes and their parts. ACADEMIC PROJECTS
 Study of the effect of temporal modulations of laser power on surface hardening characteristics as my M.Tech thesis. 
Derived and developed analytical expressions for rise in temperature of a semi‐infinite work piece due to heating with CW and repetitive laser pulse irradiation. It has been shown that the soaking time duration at a temperature above the phase transformation temperature, on which the homogeneity of microstructure and depth of hardening depend, can be increased with repetitive laser pulses.  Achieved the Best project award and a publication over the work that was carried out under this project.  The dynamics of Micromotors as my bachelor thesis  Micromotor torque and rpm characteristics in various conditions including fluid slip, bearing friction were simulated in MATLAB Simulink and the results were presented.  Maze traversal by a BIPED robot using Neural Networks and Pledge algorithm.  In this project the Biped robot was trained by using neural networks in the Maze. The code was written in the language PBASIC and the robot was trained in the lab by taking several runs and data for motions in various directions.  Determination of shadow profile, throughout the day, of a given object on earth at given location and height using Computer graphics.  In this project there were three parts – Determining the local time using the known position on earth, determining the position using the known local time, and determining the sun‐set and sun‐rise time with animation. ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS  Won the Best Project Award over my final year M.Tech project.  Held the 2nd Rank in the department of mechanical engineering out of 30 students  Scored the percentile 95.01(All India Rank – 1,154) in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) – 2009 conducted by the department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.  Ranked among the top 1.0% (All India Rank‐1,148) of nearly 200,000 applicants of IIT‐JEE, 2005.  Ranked 254 on state level and 1,878 on all India basis among 500,000 students (approx) in All India Engineering Entrance Examination‐2005. EXTRA CURICULLAR ACTIVITIY
 A member of inter‐hall bronze winning product design team in 2006‐07  Finalist in ASHRAE’s refrigeration system design competition in Kshitij – 2009. COMPUTER SKILLS  Engineering Software: AUTO CAD, INVENTOR, MATLAB, SYMBOLS Shakti, TRACE  Computer Language: C, C++, MS SQL  HTML, Photoshop , MS‐Office
