Does film criticism matter today, and if so, what is its
place in the humanities? Does the key to regenerating
serious interest in cinema and film criticism lie in
connecting the worlds of the university and the film
industry? New York-based Cineaste editors Cynthia Lucia
and Roy Grundmann continue to play a unique role
within these debates and will speak about the challenges
facing academic and popular film criticism in the twentyfirst century.
