Vishal Sehgal is an experienced professional having worked in the areas of telecom manufacturing, policy, telecom finance and developing business models that leverage the use of ICT. He started his career with a telecom manufacturing firm. He then moved to a major Financial Institution and worked with a team involved in the privatization of telecom sector in India. He was also involved in development of business plans and funding private telecom operators. He has worked with a variety of non profits including microfinance institutions, developing innovative business models. He has consulted with several state governments in conceptualizing and implementing internet kiosk based service delivery to citizens in urban and rural areas. His current focus is in developing innovative business models for leveraging ICT for rural development, raising funds for and developing go to market strategies for such companies. Green technologies which use the local expertise of the rural populations is a key interest area. Vishal Sehgal is an Electrical Engineer and an MBA. He is also a Masters in Public Administration in International Development (MPA/ID) from the Kennedy School at Harvard University, USA. He is currently a research scholar at Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi.
