Integrated Speaker Unit Notification ISU The WAVES (Wireless Audio Visual Emergency System) Integrated Speaker Unit (ISU) is a high-efficiency audible and visual device for outdoor applications. Description WAVES Integrated Speaker Unit (ISU) delivers high-quality, crisp voice announcements and visual notification for outdoor applications. It is designed in a tightly integrated unit so that it can be installed easily and rapidly. It has a tamper switch to monitor the door position of the enclosure. The ISU includes: • 2 to 4 horn loudspeakers • 1 strobe (optional) • 1 WAVES transceiver • 1 NEMA box • 1 18 Ah battery Features & Benefits • Wide-Area Mass Notification • Emergency Notification • Outdoor Warning • Natural Disaster Alerting/Relief • Temporary Events • All-Hazards Warning/ Tsunami Warning • Industrial Disaster Alerting/Relief • Integrated indoor audible and visual device • Broadcasts high-quality voice announcements • Clear voice and signal transmission • Continuously monitoring itself, BIT (Built-in Test) information transmitted to the WAVES Integrated Base Station • Weather resistant • Optional Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Horn Loudspeakers The WAVES Loudspeakers (HLS-4-15 AND HLS-8-15) deliver clear voice and signal transmission in 4- ohm and 8-ohm applications. They are double re-entrant loudspeakers that handle 15-watts of power with superior intelligibility and efficiency. The loudspeakers incorporate high-compression drivers to project sound over long distances or wide areas with fewer loudspeakers. The speakers are weather-resistant for outdoor and indoor use. Strobes The low profile strobe light (STB-702A - Amber and STB-702B - Blue) is a NEMA 4X strobe. It features high quality, long-life strobe lamps, which are designed to reduce tungsten build-up for longer lamp maintenance cycles. Careful consideration is given to the relationship between lamp shade and lens design for maximum light output. Cooper Notification utilizes surface-mount technology, which provides a more powerful light in a much smaller package. The high quality dry electrolyte capacitor used in these strobes runs cooler than those used in many competitive strobes, resulting in a more reliable product that won’t fail due to overheating. The field transceiver (TRX-401) is capable of acting as an end node as well as a relay, thereby extending the reach of the network to cover all areas of interest of the threatened facility or area. The TRX-401 transceiver is capable of driving audible, visual, as well as other data devices. The TRX-401 is a fully-integrated unit with integral power supply and audio amplifiers. The TRX-401 provides outputs for two channels of wideband amplified audio, two channels of wideband line-level audio, one full-duplex RS-232 data channel (at up to 9.6 kbps), one analog input, one digital input, and two digital I/O data pins. Each TRX-401 unit conducts supervisory built-in self tests (BIT) that are reported periodically, or on-demand, to the base station where they are displayed and logged. Changes in supervised variables trigger alert or alarm conditions at the base station PC, and can be further programmed to initiate messaging events throughout the system. The TRX-401 is housed in a weather-resistant, extruded aluminum enclosure with ABS plastic covers, the NEMA Box. It mounts easily to an included back plate. The TRX-401 unit is powered from either AC or DC power sources. An optional battery backup unit (model UPS-901) can provide up to five hours of operation. UPS-901 units are stackable to extend backup time. NEMA Box The NEMA Box (NEMA-4-TRX) insulates and houses the TRX-401 transceiver. It is especially well-suited for high temperature or corrosive environments and protects the TRX-401 from dirt, dust, oil and water. It is constructed of strong, molded fiberglass reinforced polyester with matching raised cover. It has 304 stainless steel snap latches with padlock hasp and a continuous stainless steel hinge.
