Cooper Power Systems and Landis+Gyr Announce Release of the
Cannon AMI-enabled FOCUS® Smart Meter
New meter provides utilities with additional end-device option.
WAUKESHA, WI, March 23, 2010 - Cooper Power Systems, a division of Cooper Industries plc (NYSE:
CBE), and Landis+Gyr today announced the availability of the Landis+Gyr E130 FOCUS® AL meter
equipped for deployment of Cooper Power Systems Cannon Advanced Metering Infrastructure. The
E130 meter provides an additional option for Cooper Power Systems AMI customers and signifies the
completion of one of the company’s strategic development projects.

The Cannon AMI-enabled E130 FOCUS meter underwent extensive testing by Cooper Power Systems
and Landis+Gyr in a variety of field trials during the past year, confirming the reliability of the hardware
and the software prior to commercial release. The companies worked in concert, ensuring that the
requirements and technology standards of both organizations were met. Since completion, more than
50,000 Cannon-enabled E130 FOCUS meters have been delivered. Releases of Cannon-enabled E330
FOCUS AX and E350 FOCUS AX-SD meters are set to follow.
