Palmer Sign-in sheet circulated Minutes from March 14, 2014 meeting approved Curricular Proposals: College of Arts and Sciences: Department of Geography – Requesting Global Diversity status for GEOG 22040 Introduction to Global Tourism. The course is cross-listed with RPTM 26060 which has already been approved by URCC as a Global Diversity. The Geography course is a parallel of the RPTM course. Motion carried College of Arts and Sciences: Department of Political Science – Requesting ELR status for POL 40992 Public Service (Internship). The pre-requisites have been changed so that students have the opportunity to take the course. Additionally, the catalogue description has been revised to reflect the changes. Motion carried College of Arts and Sciences: Department of Political Science – Requesting acceptance of update of the catalogue description for POL 40591 Seminar in International Relations – Comparative Politics an existing WIC. The revision made to serve the needs of International Relations students. Motion carried Proposal for a University-wide Cooperative Education Program – Key points of the plan discussed as it relates to students’ academic status, benefits, and academic credit. D. Palmer requested volunteers to serve on a sub-committee that will meet with T. Tillet. The following members agreed to represent URCC to further talk about this issue: R. Duncan, M. Fisch, J. Graham, M. Haley, D. Palmer, and E. Pringle Reports: ELR – R. Lorenz New ELR Approval Form was presented that allows section and course approvals to be combined. E. Pringle indicated that the entire approval process will eventually go to workflow. New form approved WIC – I. Nettey Writing Intensive Courses Review and Report was presented by sub-committee chair I.R. Nettey. A comprehensive report was given highlighting the history of the program and key findings of the survey. A lengthy discussion was held with several recommendations offered by URCC members. Suggestions taken under advisement; chair will make adjustments and submit a final document. OTHER BUSINESS: Next meeting is scheduled for Friday June 13, 2014 at 2:30 pm. There being no other business before the committee, meeting adjourned at 4:25 pm.
