University Requirements Curriculum Committee Meeting Friday, November 14, 2014, 2:30-4:30, Room 55 Johnson Agenda 1. Call to Order 2. Minutes of the October 10, 2014 meeting 3. Clarification on issues from past meeting Therese Tillett noted that none of the documented evidence from our September meeting—Tina’s proposal, URCC agenda, URCC minutes—indicates in that study away was discussed and understood in the approving of the NSE course. When reading all the documents, Therese says she came away with the impression that the URCC approved all sanctioned study abroad activities, which included the OIA and NSE courses. Our notes from that meeting say, “Requesting automatic ELR status for Study Abroad activities that are sanctioned by the University. Motion by Duncan, seconded by Willoughby. Motion carried. In other words, NSE was lumped into “study abroad” with no distinction that it was different. I seek clarification and inclusion in our minutes that the URCC did discuss study away and approved automatic ELR status for approved study away courses as well as approved study abroad courses. College of Arts and Sciences: Department of Mathematics – Requesting temporary Kent Core status for Basic Math Concepts 1 Plus. In March 2014, URCC granted temporary Kent Core status for three courses. A fourth course, Basic Math Concepts 1 Plus, was pended awaiting further development. During DKS, the need for the course became apparent and two sections (with 65 students) were opened. The request is being made that URCC grant retroactive temporary Kent Core status for Basic Math Concepts 1 Plus. Before URCC follows through with the request, they are requesting a copy of the syllabus for both Basic Math Concepts 1 Plus and Basic Math Concepts 1. Request tabled until November. Syllabi for MATH 14001 and MATH 14001 Plus are available. 4.
