August is Happiness Happens Month. August 24th is the first day of fall semester at

Montana State University.

Conclusion: Happiness = Being at MSU.

Hello, Bobcats!

TIP OF THE MONTH: LIBRARY LINGO

The good ol’ Merriam Webster dictionary defines the word “lingo” as “strange or incomprehensible speech: as...the special vocabulary of a particular field of interest.” Since we hope you’ll be spending a lot of time with us in the library this semester, let’s demystify some of the basic library lingo you may overhear.

Borrow Desk: By the front doors, this is a hard-to-miss library operations hub. Services include checking in/out materials and reserves, paying for cash and specialty printing, and picking up holds and interlibrary loans.

Library Liaison: Your departmental or program librarian. Check out the liaison list on our homepage (in the Services tab) to find your librarian and set up a Research Consultation on your topic.

Research Center: During desk hours, the Research Center (first floor of the library) is the place to receive live assistance navigating the information world. You can also chat, call, or email for help.

Visit www.lib.montana.edu/ask/

Reserves: Professors may place books and other course materials on reserve at the Borrow Desk for student use. On our homepage, choose “Find” then “Reserves” to locate an item’s reserve number.
