A. College of Arts and Sciences
CMTA The two proposals to revise CMTA programs were approved unanimously as a package.
Proposals to Revise Programs
Comprehensive Minor in Communication and Theatre Arts Communication and Theatre Arts Major with Concentrations / U026
HIST/PHIL The HIST course revision and program revision proposals were approved unanimously as a package, with the strong
recommendation to change “asks students to consider their identity as Americans” in the catalog description to accommodate, rather
than exclude, foreign students.
1. Request for Course Revision:
HIST115 Making American Society: Race, Ethnicity, and Gender in Historical Perspective (title, description)
2. Proposal to Revise Program: History Major (HIST)
WGST The WGST course revision proposal for SOCL/WGST456/556 and the two program revision proposals were unanimously
separated from the package. A motion was to approve these as a package, pending SAC input at the 17 April CAC Meeting with the
provision that they be separated from the Arts report and tabled if lacking SAC support. The motion was carried unanimously. The
remaining course revision proposals for WGST575 and 608, and the new course proposals for WGST540, 580, 640, and 650 were
then unanimously approved as a package.
1. Requests for Course Revisions

B. College of Education The COE four new course proposals and new certificate proposal were unanimously Not Passed as a
package with these comments. The new course proposals use the same text with only subtle differences. The syllabi do not follow the
requirements of the proposal form under section D: 20. Attach a detailed sample course syllabus including: a. course goals, objectives and/or student
learning outcomes; b. outline of the content to be covered; c. student assignments including presentations, research papers, exams, etc.; d. method of evaluation; e.
grading scale (if a graduate course, include graduate grading scale); f. special requirements; g. bibliography, supplemental reading list; h. other pertinent information.
The incomplete syllabi do not contain enough information to evaluate if the proposed courses meet the theoretical demands of graduate
courses. There is not enough information provided to assess if the course management resources are available for instruction.
1. Requests for New Courses
EDMT510 Online Teaching: Introduction
EDMT512 Online Teaching: Practicum
EDMT511 Online Teaching: Advanced
EDMT513 Online Teaching: Blended Instruction
2. Proposal for New Graduate Certificate: Certificate in Online Teaching
C. College of Technology
Interior Design—School of Engineering Technology The three COT new course proposals were unanimously Not Passed as a
package. None of the proposals include the required bibliographies. The IDE416 proposal title should replace “computers” with
“computing” and the course’s attendance policy violates the university grading policy. The proposed IDE450 title is a trademarked
name and cannot used. Additionally, “NEOCON” is misleading and the title should be broader. The age references in the IDE602
syllabus should be deleted.
Requests for New Courses
IDE416 Advanced Computers for Interior Design
IDE450 NEOCON
IDE602 Graduate Studio
V. Chair’s Remarks: none
VI. Adjournment: 16:34
Respectfully submitted,
Bradley Ensor, recording secretary
