Title
Objectionable or Suspect Content Found on University Owned Equipment
1.0 Purpose
During the course of normal duties, IT personnel may encounter objectionable content on university-owned
computers. This could include adult-oriented or graphic material (commonly referred to as pornography). If
objectionable content is found on university owned equipment during the course of working on a machine, this
procedure should be followed.

Stop any work on the computer immediately
Notify your supervisor
Immediately document what you have found using the 3.1.F.1 Objectionable Content Form
The Director of Enterprise Support will report the incident to the Deputy CIO and/or the CIO
Do not resume work on the computer unless directed to do so by IT management
All information related to suspected objectionable content must remain confidential and cannot be discussed with
other students, employees, or non-university personnel without the written permission of the Director of Enterprise
Support, the Deputy CIO, or the CIO. Should criminal activity be suspected, discussion with EMU Police or other
law enforcement agencies is permitted.
4.0 Responsibility for Implementation
The Director of Enterprise Support and the Deputy CIO are responsible for the implementation and enforcement of
this procedure.
