Start prepping now ‐Training Session Underway ‐Greek Catalyst, Saturday from 12‐5pm: Please support our fellow greek community Greek Awards ‐February 21st @ 7pm ‐100% participation expected this year, please mandate ‐Nominate your community for positions ‐ Let’s boost nominations for this year too 100 Fraternity/Sorority Survey ‐Casey is Offering $100.00 to the chapter who has 90% participation on survey ‐Incentive goes into the X‐Fund Elections/Meeting Attendance ‐April 5th, Council‐Wide Nominations ‐Schedules have been ‐Greek Week Chair needed by January 12th (first meeting) Positive Relationships ‐Coming together as a council ‐It’s important to bridge the gap between members of the council ‐ What can we do to build the community for the NPHC? NPHC Advisor, Karen: ● NPHC Academic Survey ‐Based on Fall 2015 Council, we would like feedback from Chapters ‐Do you all have scholarship chairs in your chapter? ‐Would incentives help the NPHC achieve higher GPAs? ‐It’s all about boosting your GPAs and coming up with an effective solution Vice President of Internal Affairs Report: Diamond Bryant Oral Report Provided Covered the following issues: NPHC Dues ‐Please Pay your fine by the end of this Week! Your chapter will be deemed inactive! ‐Dues have increased to $55.00 including late fees Social Media Updates ‐Social Media, please tag me @xothesiren for updates and additions to the NPHC page, feel free to drop flyers in NPHC group chats as well for promotion Membership Plans ‐Membership Plan: How is the council trending? How are we growing in numbers and what can we do to sustain active membership within our chapters? Vice President of Scholarship & Standards Report: N’Jeri Karanja Oral Report Provided Covered the following issues: ● Accountability and Solutions ­​
Most councils have goals set to improve this semester ‐Please continue to improve and strive for better ‐Please hold your members accountable for their grades ‐ Refrain from removing members with low GPA from the roster ● Service Hours ‐Wednesdays Conferences, TBA ‐Please designate people to input your service hours on the web portal ● GSAP ‐Training class underway for GSAP interviews ‐Emails will be sent to chapters Vice President of Civic Engagement Report: Daryl Shahid Oral report was provided Covered the following issues: ● NPHC Week Ideas ‐Moved to March 20th‐26th ‐March 21st, Student Center GB 7p‐9p Truth Behind the Letters ‐March 22nd, TruEMU Gameshow/Wild n’ Out ‐Only two programs reserved, space open for more programming ‐Icebreaker 26th, Stepshow will be hosted ‐NPHC Week Committee please stay for further discussion ● Updates/Step Show Expectations ‐Meeting will be held following the NPHC meeting ‐100% participation from Organizations, required ‐Rules and expectations will be distributed via email ‐Calendar will be ‐Unity Ball has been moved to February 11th Special Guest, Casey Krone: ● Scholarship/Standards: *Disclaimer: Has noticed more positive energy from the council, participation and membership has evolved. Data shows increase in number, etc. ‐Grades were disappointing for the NPHC council ‐Reflections come from Chapter grades ‐Only 2 organizations are above the GPA standard for all women’s/all men’s GPAs ‐Membership Intake will become difficult with a decrease in academics ‐ People who are making decisions higher up for the university, will search for academics first, becomes difficult to advocate for NPHC retreats, funding etc. ‐ Do you have a Goal as a council, for GPAs? ‐ Academic Standards should be raised to continue to improve for excellence ‐What can we do as a community to address the issue? ‐ Open for 1 on 1s to address and improve the issue ‐Open for conversations following the meeting ‐Comparative Data Provided for Council: All council average for the Fall 2.35 ‐Cumulative: 2.9 GPA overall for active members in the council ‐Please advocate for yourself if you are experiencing personal issues that affect your performance in the classroom ‐Please pay attention to add/drop dates, if you drop classes late in the term it will show as a 0.0 for your Chapter’s roster ‐Trends for academics viewed: Membership intake, graduation GPAs ‐A comprehensive report will be provided by Greek Awards in order to provide a solution ‐Please utilize each other within the council as a resource to improve the GPA average (Open Floor to address Scholarship and Solutions to Improve Council Average) Chapter Announcements/Open Floors: Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.: Feb 9 Tower Inn 6‐9pm, GoFundMe Account for Flint Water Relief, please donate link on Social Media Feb 18 Kappas Vs.
