LANGUAGES AND INTERNATIONAL CAREERS (LIC) Eastern Michigan University Degree Programs In French, German and Spanish The Language and International Careers (LIC) programs in French, German, and Spanish in the Department of World Languages prepare students for international careers in health, tourism, social work, social services, translation and interpretation, communication, government, and business. Its primary objective is the acquisition of foreign language skills, as well as crosscultural knowledge to achieve advanced foreign language proficiency, cross-cultural competence, and effective professional communication. Course Requirements (beyond General Education requirements that can include 100200-level of foreign language courses) Major: 33-36 Hours Suggested Minors: 21 Hours Language Courses: 24 cr. (from 300-level) Elective International and Cultural Studies: 6 cr. Internship: 3 cr. or Study Abroad (6-week Programs): 6 cr. International Business, Political Science, Intern.
