Welcome to Dining Services!
Thank you for your interest in working with EMU Dining Services in our Collegiate Advantage Program
(CAP). This program is designed to assist student employees with room and board expenses in return for
working with our incredible team. CAP student employees work a contracted amount of hours per
semester for their room and board. You will be selected based on your leadership skills, quality work
ethics and the ability to follow instructions.
TYPES OF CAP
 Full CAP pays for 100% of one (1) semester of room and board. You will be required to work a
total of 375 hours per semester which averages to approximately 23-25 hours per week. The
current Full CAP contract rate is based on the Fall 2013/Winter 2014 rates for living in a double
occupancy room in Pittman/Hoyt Halls on the Gold 13 meal plan (which are subject to change
for Fall 2014).
 Half CAP pays for 50% of one (1) semester of room and board. You will be required to work
187.5 hours per semester which averages to approximately 12-15 hours per week. The current
Half CAP rate is based on one half (50%) of the Fall 2013/Winter 2014 rates for living in a
double occupancy room in Pittman/Hoyt Halls on the Gold 13 meal plan (which are subject to
change for Fall 2014).
GENERAL INFO
 If you prefer to live in a residence hall other than double occupancy at Pittman/Hoyt; choose to
live in a single room residence hall; university apartments; or elect an alternative meal plan; then
you will be responsible for any difference in the cost that will remain on your student account.
 The contract that you may sign (if selected) is only for one (1) semester. You must REAPPLY
for EACH semester that you would like to participate. If you contract a residential agreement for
an academic year (2 semesters), then it has no bearing on whether you will be accepted for each
semester for CAP.
 Please note that this program is only available to students who have already received a room
assignment from the EMU Residential Services Department. We realize that you may have not
received your room assignment yet, but we invite you to complete the CAP employment
application as soon as possible (See “How To Apply For CAP” on the next page).
 CAP vacancies are limited. Applications will be accepted through the deadline unless target
numbers are met early. Applications which are not fully complete will not be considered.
If you have further questions, please feel free to contact our Dining Services main office at 734.487.0418.
Best Regards,

STUDENT ELGIBILITY/REQUIREMENTS
All EMU undergraduate and graduate residence hall students who have not broken a CAP
contract are eligible to apply to participate in the CAP Program. Please note that EMU policy
states that international students are only allowed to work 20 hours per week. Thus, all
international students are only eligible to participate in the Half CAP Program due to CAP
weekly hour requirements.
If you sign a CAP contract and fail to work the required number of hours, your CAP pay rate
will be recalculated to the current State of Michigan’s minimum wage rate for the total number
of hours you worked. This will generate a balance due for your room and board on your student
account.
